Do we have the broken heart of God?

I don’t know about you, but the longer I live in this world, the more my heart breaks over the things I see happening in the world around us.  I find myself often thinking, How much worse can it get?

We are currently studying through the book of Jeremiah, fifty two chapters of a man telling a stubborn and rebellious nation that God’s judgment is coming upon them, over and over again, to no avail.  Forty years Jeremiah would spend warning the people and yet in all of those years, no one would turn from their sin and surrender to God.  I recently read in the book of Deuteronomy 5:25 as the Lord spoke through Moses, “Oh, that they had such a heart that they would fear Me and always keep all My commandments, that it might be well with them and with their children forever!”

Can you hear the cry of God’s heart, yearning for His people to live their lives for Him? I have been burdened of late about how broken God’s heart must be for what He sees in our world today.

I want to have such a heart!
