“I am a blessed man!”

What an amazing day yesterday was…Easter Sunday!

As I woke this morning reflecting on all of the events of yesterday, I could not help but smile and feel great joy in my heart. Truly it was one of the best Easters ever. I love reading what the angels said to those who had come to prepare Jesus’ body for what they thought would be His ‘permanant’ burial.

Luke 24:5-7
Then, as they were afraid and bowed their faces to the earth, they said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen! Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee, saying, ‘ The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again. ’”

I love that! “Why do you seek the living among the dead?” I had an amazing day yesterday because Jesus lives. As I think about the opportunity I had to share that story with a group of people who would get up at ‘dark o’clock’ in the morning and come to a lake in a local park to worship Jesus, it overwhelms me. Whom am I that the Lord would allow such a thing?

But that was just the beginning, because from there I was blessed to be able to preach the gospel at two services, hear the music ministry of an incredible groups of gifted singers and musicians, and then enjoy an amazing meal with family and friends not to mention a whole host of other activities. Taking my grandchildren for scooter rides, our annual Easter walk, and just being together in a perfect day of sunshine was more than any man deserves.

Why was I able to experience all of this? Because Jesus lives. He transformed my life! He rescued me from a life of darkness, a life of sin and self-centeredness. And if that wasn’t enough, He gave me the opportunity to serve Him though the teaching and preaching of the glorious truths of His Word. It is not possible that it gets any better than that.

I am a blessed man!
