Monday Musings & Miscellany

SPEAK OH LORD
The Lord blessed me recently as I stumbled upon this young man, David Wesley, and his “a capella” version of “Speak Oh Lord.” Do yourself a favor and take some time to listen. Truly you will be blessed. You can learn a little more about David on his Facebook Page. You can also download his album “Basement Praise: A Capella Worship” on iTunes, or purchase the CD on his Facebook Page. What a gifted singer and musician he is!

HOW SERIOUS ARE YOU ABOUT JOY AND HAPPINESS?
“There is a joy that carries us through pain and loss — ‘the joy of the Lord is your strength’ (Nehemiah 8:10). Sorrow makes us serious, and this serious sorrowing is where divine joy emerges to gird the soul with strength.” Pain and suffering is a reality of this world and it is a spiritual truth that in great pain “serious joy” is found.

MORNING ROUTINES OF HIGHLY EFFECTIVE PEOPLE
Do you want to be a “highly effective person?” I thought this a very interesting and informative article. I especially appreciated the reminder of how important a morning routine is, “the most important element of a productive morning.”

“Contentment is a slippery thing. As soon as we think we are content it wiggles away, due to something we see on television, some stray thought, or a small comment another person makes. Is contentment even possible?”

CONTENTMENT IN A DISCONTENTED WORLD
I have always been intrigued by Paul’s statement in his letter to the Philippians that he learned the secret of contentment. Our contentment must be found in Christ, otherwise we will live a life frustrated by the ebb and flow of contentment and discontentment.

  1. I have really tried working hard at establishing that core morning routine. I think part of it starts by getting a good nights sleep! I like the weekly sharing recaps. Inspires me to start one on Monday Mornings! Sounds like a routine starting.

    1. Thanks for reading Mark. I have been surprised at how consistent I have been with more sleep. It does indeed make a difference. Feel free to pass on any productivity tips! Blessings.
