One of the greatest challenges of being a Christian is the whole issue of faith. I recently wrote a post on faith entitled “What would happen?”.
My son recently, actually a year ago, moved to Mexico to build an orphanage. I am sure he had no idea the faith that it would take to do so. Not just the faith to leave the comforts of home, but the faith to build an orphanage without knowing when, from where, and if the orphans would come.
I just read a post on the “House of Blessing” blog, comparing what he is feeling with what Noah must have felt. It is a great post and I would encourage you to read it.
One of the things I love most about the Bible is how applicable it is to our every day lives. Oh that we might be willing to take many great steps of faith in our short time on this earth.
Imagine what would happen if we had faith like Abraham. What an amazing thing that would be. Imagine all of the things that God could do in and through us.
He [Abraham] did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, 21 and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform. And therefore “it was accounted to him for righteousness.”
Do we want to please God? Then we must have faith.
But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
Once we believe, in the depth of our hearts, that God is who He says He is, then we can begin to discover what it means to trust Him. This is faith, trusting in something that we don’t see. I am certain that the more we trust God, the more faith we have in all He can and wants to do, the more He will do. Oh how I want that kind of faith.
What would happen if we had this kind of faith? I want to find out!
Oh Lord, I ask that you would give me the fulness of faith that you desire for me. Help me to trust like Abraham, without wavering. I believe that You are and I believe that you are a rewarder of those who diligently seek you. Help me to seek you with all my heart, soul, and strength each and every day. In Jesus’ name…Amen.
